About the work


This is one of an unusual series of paintings relating to the Liyagalawumirri Dua Narra ceremony for old men only, which depict the habits of the various animals portrayed in the ceremony. This painting shows the sugar ant, with tracks of the emu in the background. In the outer panels are shown the sacred boomerangs of the ceremony Bopani is the younger brother of Djunmal.
