About the work

The drone of a didgeridoo builds atmosphere at mortuary and other ceremonies across Arnhem Land, and further afield. This one was used in a Djalambu (hollow log) mortuary ceremony held by the Gupapuyngu people in North East Arnhem Land. It is elaborately decorated beyond the usual designs that cover the instrument’s surface.
