About the work


The Gunwinggu people believe that the Great Rainbow Snake, Ngalyod turned into a woman called Waramurungundji and married the man Wuragog. They travelled widely, she is carrying a digging stick and a net bag, shown in the painting. Nguleingulei, born 1920, is an outstanding artist.
