About the work

This painting shows hills in country called Mingmarrìya near Dingo Springs east of Warmun (Turkey Creek, W.A. where the artist lives and paints. The artist takes one of her Aboriginal names, Mingmarriya, from this country. As she puts it “my name been grow up from these hills.” Mingmarriya is limestone country and there are lots of wild dingoes there. The lighter patches on the hills are the graves of old people who are buried in this country.
