About the work

The Nyoongar people’s six seasons have very important purposes for plants and wildlife that belong to the [South West] region [of Western Australia]. Aboriginal culture has, for thousands of years, lived with the connections between ecology, meteorology and song lines that brings as well as disperses the rains. In practicing culture, we find that we have a part to perform in maintaining the balance of life (Artist statement 2006).
The Wanyarang season falls between April and May of the Western calendar year.
