About the work

The photograph is part of a series created for the Conference Call project for the Biennale of Sydney in 1992. Croft worked with renowned international conceptual artist and theorist, Adrian Piper, to document the lives of Aboriginal people in Redfern, Sydney. This work responds to the concern at the time that Aboriginal people had no visibility or voice, especially about the redevelopment of Redfern.
