About the work

My grandmother suffered a stroke in 1993 which took away her ability to
speak clearly, but slowly her brain remembered some of the Badimaya
language she knew before she was taken away at age twelve.
Often when she found it difficult to speak what she felt in English, she
would translate it into the Badimaya language.
The background of the image shows meeting places associated with
songlines.
