Icon to a stolen child: Teacher
Julie DOWLING: artist
This icon is about a grandmother who had been stolen from her family
and culture at an early age. She found her family again after decades
and began to learn more about her culture. She told me she began to
teach her grandchildren about her life story and the things she learnt
from her lost family.
Inside the heads of her grandchildren are pictographs of their thoughts
as they listen to their grandmother’s knowledge.
