About the work


Sandra Black was born in Victoria but came as a child with her family to live in Western Australia; she trained as an art teacher and has had wide experience in lecturing and tutoring. After study at the Western Australian Institute of Technology she was awarded an Art Teacher's Associateship and appointed as a part-time tutor in ceramics. She works with bone china and porcelain, carving thrown and handformed pieces.

This Flared Bowl, 1982, is of wheel-thrown carved porcelain inlaid with coloured slip.
