Richard FFARINGTON: artist
In 1984 the Art Gallery purchased an important folio of drawings and watercolours depicting the life and customs of Aboriginal people of the south-west of Western Australia. The artist was Richard Atherton Ffarington, who created his images between 1843 and 1847. His sensitive portrayals and accurate descriptions of daily activities provides visual confirmation of details otherwise only accessible through written and oral accounts.
