Mine in the Eastern Goldfields
Walter GODDEN: artist
This view is thought to depict Kanowna Consolidated Gold Mines, one of the first mining companies to be floated after the discovery of gold at Kanowna, north-east of Kalgoorlie in 1893. The mine was well eqipped, with a ten-head battery and a cyanide plant, which were housed in the tall building. It was sold by auction in 1904 when a period of great prosperity came to an end. Walter Godden was a draughtsman in Public Works in Kalgoorlie.
