The settlement King George's Sound
Isaac NIND: artist
This work which was previously attributed to Major Edmund Lockyer is now attributed to Isaac Scott Nind. Looking eastwards over the settlement quite a large plot of land seems to be under cultivation. Early attempts to grow vegetables at King George Sound were unsuccessful, due to the poor quality of the soil and lack of understanding of the seasons. Vegetable gardens which were subsequently established at Green Island in Oyster Harbour and at what is now known as the 'Old Farm', Strawberry Hill, were more productive.
